Is your computer running slow because it’s low on memory? Well don’t pay a tech if you don’t have to. Changing or adding memory is pretty simple. First you have to know what type of memory your computer uses and how much it is upgradable to. For this we are going to use the power of google. Go to www.google.com or use the google toolbar. In the search field type in “memory upgrade YOUR MODEL OF COMPUTER” (without quotes) . For example, memory upgrade Dell Dimension 3000. This will usually give you search result that already answer the question of memory type right there . You may see some numbers like PC2100 or PC2-4200. But you still need a little more information. I usually like to click on memorystock.com in the search results. This site is usually accurate about what you need. On memorystock.com’s page it will show you the type of memory it takes, what it is upgradeable to, and how many slots for memory it has. So, if the computer is upgradable to 2 Gigabytes (GB) and it has 2 Slots then each slot can hold a 1 Gigabyte of RAM. So, in this case, you cannot put a 2 GB chip in one slot even though it is upgradable to 2 GB. Each slot can only address 1GB. So another example would be if it says its upgradable to 4GB and has 2 Slots then each slot can hold 2GB. Easy right. Once you know how much RAM you need and what type all you need to know is how to put it in. Here’s a quick video tutorial provided by Crucial memory.

Have you wanted to take all those DVDs off the shelf and copy them into a format that you can use on your computer, Xbox, PS3, Ipod and just about any other device you can think of. Well, I don’t know about you, but I have. Not only have I thought about it but I have done it. The following video tutorial will show you how to do just that. So press play and enjoy.
